Data ScienceTech Institute is very proud see its three Applied MSc programmes, Data Science & Artificial Intelligence, Data Engineering for Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics having received a label “3IA Côte d’Azur”, a programme driven by Université Côte d’Azur, Shanghai Global Ranking 301-400 (Academic Ranking of World Universities), Shangai Global Mathematics Ranking 76-100, and 13-16 at National (France) level.
What is the “3IA”?
As part of the national program for artificial intelligence (AI), originating in the report “Donner un sens à l’intelligence artificielle“ (“Give a meaning to artificial intelligence”) by Cédric Villani (Fields Medallist) in 2018, the French Government has decided to support the constitution of a network composed of a selected few “Instituts Interdisciplinaires d’Intelligence Artificielle” 3IA (Interdisciplinary Institutes of Artificial Intelligence) with which all talents in France for AI would be called to interact. After a hearing by an international jury, the final results of the 3IA call for expressions of interest were made public on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 by the Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation and the Secretary of State for the Digital Economy. The projects of the Grenoble “MIAI@Grenoble-Alpes”, Nice-Sophia Antipolis “3IA Côte d’Azur”, Paris “PRAIRIE” and Toulouse “ANITI” sites have been selected.
The Nice-Sophia Antipolis – “3IA Côte d’Azur” project
The 3IA Côte d’Azur programme, led by Université Nice Côte d’Azur, brings together its main members in artificial intelligence such as the CNRS, Inria, the Sophia Antipolis and Nice Côte d’Azur local authorities, as well as other academic institutions on the site such as EURECOM, MINES ParisTech, SKEMA Business School and Data ScienceTech Institute, as well as the Inserm. This project brings together more than 250 academics. The general objective of 3IA Côte d’Azur is to advance AI in the real world, with applications for health and intelligent territories, around four axes:
- Core Elements of AI
- AI for Integrative Computational Medicine
- AI for Computational Biology and Bio-Inspired AI
- AI for Smart of Smart and Secure Territories
In these axes, 35 researchers and teacher-researchers of international level have been award 3IA Côte d’Azur Chairs.
Three of them are DSTI professors:
- Pr Charles Bouveyron, also Director of the 3AI Côte d’Azur programme
- Pr Fabien Gandon
- Pr Marina Teller
What does it mean for DSTI students and graduates?
3IA Côte d’Azur promoting research at its core, but also teaching AI and its applications. A “3IA Côte d’Azur Label”, awarded by its Board of Directors Committee, identifies and recognises the value of a certain number of training programs, as per 15 programs in April 2021, including the three DSTI Applied MSc programmes.
This label is recognition of international value of our programmes’ content and the outstanding level of our Faculty.
The label will be placed on the transcripts and degree parchments of DSTI graduates, pushing our degree value even further on the international AI-education scene.
